Corbin Needs Your Help for Diagnostic Testing

Hi, my name is Natalie. Corbin came into my life when he was a puppy at 10 weeks old during one of the lowest points of my life, convinced he could help me overcome several obstacles in my life. He did that and so much more. He’s truly the light of my life, and I’ve said that since day one. He isn’t just my pet; he’s my family and son.

A few days ago, we noticed that he wasn’t putting any pressure on his right hind leg and thought it was nothing more than a sprain from running around with his puppy cousin the day prior. He was still able to hobble around, but by the next day, he wasn’t putting any pressure on either hind leg. If you know Corbin, he’s the first person to greet you at the door and give you a TSA pat down before fully entering and watch you leave from the window. He hasn’t moved from his bed besides being carried to use the bathroom (which he can hardly stand to do) outside from being in so much pain. I made an appointment with a vet immediately once I noticed, trying to get in the same day. Unfortunately, no vets had any availability. We settled for an appointment the next morning and ultimately decided to cancel it and head straight to the emergency vet as soon as we noticed he was not putting any pressure on his front left leg now.

The doctor at the ER decided the route we need to take is to do a full lameness workup. The cost exceeded what I expected, and I ended up taking Corbin home with some pain management while I decided what our next steps are going to be and how we are going to be able to afford the initial testing recommended.

They recommended a full blood workup including testing for diseases, X-rays to look at his joints and the surrounding areas, and a joint tap taking fluid from his joints to test for infections. These joint taps will then be tested for aerobic and anaerobic cultures as well as cytology.

The doctor has suspicions that this is either an immune-mediated disease where his immune system is attacking his joints or an infectious disease such as Lyme.

These are just the costs of getting started to narrow down what is happening with him and then come up with a plan to start treatment which will be its own feat.

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. If you can’t donate, please think about us and send healing our way. ♡ Corbin is my entire world and seeing him in pain and not the positive chaos he usually is absolutely kills me. I want to help him over come this just has he’s helped me in many ways over the years.
