Tasha and Jeff Holstein became parents on June 11, 2019 to a sweet, button-nosed babe, Corben Leonard, weighing 7 lbs 1 oz! Due to Corben’s complicated condition called congenital diaphagmitc hernia (CDH), the delivery was scheduled for the Mayo Hospital and when Tasha went into labor 1 month prior to her due date, she was flown to Rochester, MN.
Baby Corben was not breathing when he was delivered and required 20 minutes of CPR to resuscitate him. Tasha and Jeff made the decision to baptize Corben immediately as the doctors and nurses worked to save their little boy! Corben wasn’t progressing very well and it was decided, as a last resort, to place him on an ECMO machine (life support). During this time, Corben also had to undergo surgery to reposition the organs that were displaced and infringing on his lung development (due to his CDH condition).
Corben has been progressing and was taken off the ECMO machine but remains in the NICU at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and continues to fight to get better so, at some point in the future, he’s able to go home with Mom and Dad.
In the meantime, Tasha continues to stay by Corben’s side in Rochester, living in a hotel, while Jeff works hard at sustaining the family by working in New Ulm during the week and going to
Rochester every weekend to see his family!
As you can imagine, the financial strain is overwhelming and any donation is greatly appreciated. Please keep the Holstein family in your thoughts and prayers as Baby Corben continues to recover.
