About the Memorial Fund
For transparency, Cora’s daughters, Sheila and Arni, are coordinating this memorial scholarship fund in honour of their mother.
Arni is listed as the financial beneficiary of this GoFundMe and will handle the financial withdrawals on behalf of the family. This is simply how the GoFundMe account is structured so that the funds can be accessed and managed directly.
The money raised through this campaign will be used to establish and support the Corazon Cano Aspilla Memorial Scholarship, with the goal of helping deserving first-generation university students in Bohol, Philippines, complete their education.
Help Us Continue Our Mom’s Legacy Through Education
On August 12, 2026, our family lost our beloved mom, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, Corazon Cano Aspilla, far too suddenly. She was 80 years old.
While we are heartbroken by her unexpected passing, we have been thinking deeply about the incredible legacy she leaves behind. One of the greatest expressions of our mom’s love was the way she believed in people—especially young people who simply needed someone to believe in their potential.
Education Was One of Our Mom’s Greatest Gifts
Our mom had a deep love for the people of Bohol, Philippines, and over the years, she quietly helped many young people pursue and finish university when they otherwise may not have had the opportunity.
She understood that for many families, sending a child to university can feel almost impossible. Tuition, books, transportation, living expenses, and other costs can stand between a talented young person and the education they need to build a better future.
Our mom wanted to remove those barriers.
She helped young people complete their education so they could find meaningful careers, become financially independent, and ultimately improve the lives of their own families. She believed that when you help one person get an education, you are not just changing one life—you are changing an entire family’s future.
She never did this for recognition. She simply saw a need and helped.
Continuing What She Started
After her passing, we wanted to find a way to honor our mom that reflected who she truly was.
Rather than flowers, we are asking family and friends to consider making a donation to establish the Corazon Cano Aspilla Memorial Scholarship.
Our goal is to continue our mom’s legacy by providing financial assistance to first-generation university students in Bohol who have the determination and ability to pursue higher education but lack the financial resources to do so.
We hope this scholarship will help students not only enter university, but cross the finish line and graduate—just as our mom helped so many young people do during her lifetime.
And we hope to take her vision one step further by helping these graduates access opportunities for meaningful careers, including opportunities in the global workforce.
A Legacy That Lives On
Our family knows that our mom would not want us to focus only on the sadness of losing her. She would want us to keep helping people.
Every student who receives this scholarship will carry a piece of her legacy forward.
Every degree earned will be a reminder of her belief in the power of education.
Every family whose future is changed because a young person was given the opportunity to graduate will be part of the legacy she leaves behind.
If you knew our mom, you know that this is exactly the kind of legacy she would have wanted.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to establish the Corazon Cano Aspilla Memorial Scholarship and begin providing scholarships to deserving first-generation university students in Bohol.
If you are able, we would be deeply grateful for your support. No donation is too small. And if you are unable to give, simply sharing this fundraiser with others would mean so much to our family.
