My heart absolutely aches for this beautiful, young girl who has suffered a great tragedy. It all begun in the early hours of April 25th when Coral was a passenger heading home with her friends parents after a weekend spent together. A woman in another vehicle who was under the influence decided she didn’t want to live any longer. She purposely swerved into the oncoming lane in attempts to end her own life. The car Coral was in swerved to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful and the two cars collided head on. The woman responsible for this horrific, selfish act immediately got out of car without a single injury. Unfortunately, Coral would be the one who would suffer the consequences of this woman’s actions. She had sustained severe injuries, was unconscious, and had to be rescued from a car that had now caught on fire. She was quickly bay flighted to the closest hospital in critical condition. Her family was contacted by phone with the devastating news that their baby girl was involved in an accident. Several hours away they traveled to be with her. They were told she may not make it. They had learned that she had a punctured lung, lacerated pancreas, shattered pelvis, shattered arm, most of her ribs broken, lacerated liver, internal bleeding, and was on life support. This was just the beginning of her long battle ahead. She endured several emergency surgeries within hours of arrival. She had to have chest tubes, pancreas and liver drains. This family was being faced with something only in nightmares. Their strong faith kept them going and Coral continues fighting. She has now has numerous surgeries, wound vacs, has been reopened several time and now is facing another surgery! The family is tired, the woman who caused all this has suffered no consequences and this poor family is faced with many financial
hardships. They have stayed by her side through it all, unable to work. This woman has taken so much from this family and this is just the beginning. She has still much to endure. I hope to at least ease their minds a little about the financial stress so they can focus on Coral right now.
