Hello everyone, my name is Moses Price. I am a 1988 Graduate of R.H. Watkins High School where I served as the former Student Body President.
As many of you may have heard, our Beloved Mrs. Cora Wade Seals, an Educator/Counselor, took flight with her "heavenly wings" on 25 May 2024. As many of you can attest, Mrs. Seals earned those wings over a life time of service and dedication to the lives of students and the broader Laurel-Jones County Community in various post-retirement volunteer roles. Her loving guidance, quick wit, humor and principled advice to so many young students such as many of you and myself have made the difference in incalculable ways. She has even touched the lives of some of your children as well prior to her retirement.
A few months ago, I reached out to Teresa Walley (formerly Hutchison) to discuss the creation of a scholarship program/or foundation to honor Mrs. Seals by awarding scholarships in her name to deserving students. The thrust of this idea was to honor Mrs. Seals while she was living rather than posthumously. Teresa eagerly shared this idea with Ms. Donna Summers, Delta Sorority Sister and former student, and David Seals, Mrs. Seals son, both of whom signed on to this idea and are fully supportive of the initiative.
Unfortunately, while the scholarship fund was not launched before her passing, David had the privilege of sharing with his mom this lasting legacy and tribute to her faithful commitment to the betterment of the lives of all those she encountered. Mrs. Seals would definitely argue that each of us is her lasting legacy. And now it turns to us to ensure that her legacy lives on through the establishment of the Cora Wade Seals Scholarship Foundation to award scholarships to deserving students.
I ask that you please share this link far and wide. Give whatever you are able to this initiative. Your support, prayers for David Seals and all of those who had the privilege to call our transformed angel "Mama Seals".
With love,
