Supporting the Family of Baby Cora Berry

I am raising funds to support the family of Cora Berry (05/03/2025 – 20/08/2025).

Cora was born prematurely at 34 weeks under a general anaesthesia birth, separated from mum, and rushed to NICU at hospital 2 hours away from home.

After extensive testing over 6 weeks, Cora was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic condition, Paroxysmal Extreme Pain Disorder with an added variant of Autonomic Dysfunction.

Despite her extraordinary strength, she endured the unimaginable during her short but deeply meaningful 5 and a half months of life. Her family spent that time by her side in the NICU units of the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne.

After Cora’s final surgery and trialling multiple medications, her medical team advised they had done everything they could for her.

Cora’s care was compassionately transitioned to Very Special Kids, where she spent her final six days surrounded by love, comfort, and peace.

Cora’s parents are now facing a loss no parent should ever have to endure. On top of their grief, they are also faced with the financial weight of related expenses. Including, 5 months of driving long distances to be with her at the hospital, while trying to keep a ‘normal routine’ for their 2 year old daughter Niamh. Trying to best support both their children has meant the parents have alternated their time between the hospital and home, leaving the family often separated.

They are proud and humble people who would never ask for help themselves, but in this most painful of times, no family should have to carry such a financial burden alongside their heartbreak.

This fundraiser is to ease those pressures, so that Cora’s parents can focus on remembering and honoring their precious daughter. Any surplus funds will be donated to Very Special Kids, whose incredible support has carried the family through the most heartbreaking and complicated chapter of their lives.
