Copper the service dog needs your help!
Donation protected
Copper was diagnosed with Necrotizing fasciitis (Flesh eating disease) on July 19th, 2023. He was immediately rushed into surgery where the surgeon was able to successfully remove the necrotic tissue, however, he will require months of bandage changes (every two days) and possibly one or more skin grafts.
To complicate matters, Copper also has a herniated disk in his back. In fact, the day before his back surgery he fell getting out of the truck which is what led him to get Necrotizing Fasciitis. His back surgery has been put on hold for now while he recovers from this nightmare!
I absolutely hate asking you all for help, but nothing could have prepared us for what poor Copper has had to go through. His $15,000 pet insurance coverage is quickly becoming depleted, yet he has months of expensive treatments ahead. I know times are tight for everyone right now, and please believe me when I say if I didn't desperately need the help right now, I wouldn't ask.
Copper has spent his entire life as a service dog, doing everything in his power to make my life better. As much as I hate asking for help, I must put his needs before my ego. I know for a fact that Copper would do anything in his power to help me, so if swallowing my pride and asking for help right now is what I have to do to help Copper, well that's exactly what I plan on doing.
Alternately, if you would prefer to make a donation directly to Copper's vet you are welcome to contact Qualicum Animal Hospital at [phone redacted]
