Alright folks — we need your help (and a few quid if you can spare it).
Our BIG BOSS Jo from Liddle Forestry has been smashing her breast cancer recovery, so a bunch of us from the forestry world — harvester drivers, forwarder operators, hand cutters and better half’s have decided to do something completely unnatural for forestry workers…
Leave the machines parked, put the saws down, and WALK around Kielder Dam.
Yes… actual walking.
No heated harvester seats.
No forwarder doing the heavy lifting. I’m
Just boots, legs, and a lot of complaining.
Saturday 28th March
Perfect timing too — before the midgies hatch and carry us off into the canopy.
We’re doing it to raise money for CoppaFeel!, a brilliant charity raising awareness for breast cancer, and to celebrate Jo absolutely clear-felling cancer and leaving nothing but stumps behind.
What you’re sponsoring:
A full lap of Kielder Dam
A group of forestry workers discovering walking is harder than sitting in a machine
Hand cutters claiming it’s “just a warm-up”
Machine operators asking if we can bring a forwarder as a support vehicle
Special mention to Adam :
Adam has recently bought a treadmill so he can “train indoors”, which is probably wise because the last time he wandered around outside, someone thought a half-shed orangutan had crawled out of the brash mat.
If he actually makes it round Kielder there’s a good chance the Forestry Commission will try to tag him as protected wildlife.
So if you’d like to support a great cause — and sponsor a group of forestry workers attempting something more difficult than felling timber — please donate whatever you can.
Every pound helps support CoppaFeel! and the amazing work they do raising awareness and encouraging people to check themselves early.
And let’s be honest…
It’s also worth a few quid just to see if Adam actually survives the full lap.
Thanks everyone for the support — it means a lot lets do this and spread awareness !!
