Father & Son – Final BronyCon
Since 2007, the year of Ethan’s birth, his father, Matthew, has needed to undergo 14 eye surgeries, lost two jobs for reasons related to his disability, lost the last of his physical vision, had his right eye removed for health reasons, and is now doing his best to get through a divorce he had hoped would never happen.
Despite all of what Matthew has gone through, he and his son are very close and the two made a very special bond back in 2013 when they attended BronyCon together.
BronyCon allowed Matthew a chance to feel welcome despite his disability while also giving Ethan a lot of opportunities to make connections and show his talents to a great many people.
Ethan has presented alongside his father during the first “Coping With Limitations Through Pony” panel in 2014 and has played a part in helping to look out for others with special needs as he completed Elementary school and nearly finishes his first year of Middle School.
Matthew had hoped to use the last BronyCon as a chance for he and his son to work together towards positive advocacy while just having some fun away from the divorce. Unfortunately his most recent surgery is making it difficult to ensure the money needed is available to make it all work out.
Matthew still needs to pay for the surgery he had to have in March, which removed his right eye. He also has to pay back debts that have mounted due to costly medications, trips to see specialists, etc. So we were hoping you may be able to spare a little to help make sure Matthew and Ethan can have one epic time at the final BronyCon while affording his prosthetic eye, post-operational expenses, and adapting to a non-visual life where his son now must spend time with his mother and himself separately.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Any donation is welcome. Even if just a kind word of encouragement.
