Copeka isn’t just a building, or even a coffee house, or a venue; Copeka is a third space made by everyone who has used their time, care, and energy to build something that supports and strengthens the community. But, of course, Copeka is in a building, and that building could use some work! We’d love to do that work, so we’re asking the community how much they’d like to come together to contribute to help make that possible.

Here are a few things we would like to get done:

1. We are so excited to welcome everyone into the expanded space in the shop! We’ve got great booths (with power outlets!), comfy chairs, more cozy nooks for conversations, two meeting rooms, and more space for events and community gatherings. In order to get this space open, we’ve had to do some significant renovations so that it complies with building codes and to ensure accessibility for our community members who use wheelchairs. ADA compliance is important, and in this case, has also proved to be very expensive. As a small business with tiny margins, this was not in our budget, and we need your help!

2. Some upgrades to the interior, including equipment, would make the whole space more comfortable for everyone! For instance, the ancient air-conditioning units could be replaced so that the building will be cooler (and quieter! We know you know...) in the summer.

3. We have some outdated kitchen and cleaning equipment that, if replaced, would make our production easier and our workflow way better.

4. We’d love to purchase some AV equipment to keep in-house to make community events even easier!

5. If we could get a grease trap installed in the back, we could expand our kitchen/bakery offerings (and make the larger building a more viable location for exciting restaurant projects!). TBH, grease traps are incredibly expensive, but we think it'd be well worth it!
