About 35 east of Naples Florida in Collier County, one of the richest cities and counties in the state you will find the town of Immokalee. Immokalee is an agricultural, migrant community that ranks among the least educated cities in the nation, as only 4.7% of people over 25 years of age have a bachelors or advanced degree. Per capita income is $9,900 and residents below the poverty level are 44.8, one of the highest in the state.
This little town is the home of The Soccer Pit Cobras, the only youth soccer program that provides kids the opportunity to play this beautiful game. Although small in comparison to programs in surrounding towns the Cobras are well known around the state for their skill level, and respect for the game.

Our club has a very strict discipline policy and requires that each player maintains a good academic standing in school. Players below a 2.0 GPA are given a period of time to bring their grades up and if they don’t they are dismissed from the club. For us is more than soccer, it is about experiences that will prepare them to face the obstacles of life.

Our club has embarked in a very ambitious project, we were  planning on taking our U18 boys to Guadalajara Mexico this summer to play in the Copa Chivas International Youth tournament, but along the way discovered that several players could not travel outside the country due to immigration issues and we were not about to leave them behind. We decided to register the team to play in The New York City Cup to be played at Randall's Island in the heart of New York. This will be an experience of a lifetime for these boys. Our kids don’t get the opportunities to experience the world outside of their small town. For many of them a trip to the beach is huge.

We started our fundraising campaign last summer because we knew it would be costly. Selling food plates prepared by  coaches and parents, selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts and washing cars will only get us so far. We estimate that our trip will cost about $18,000 which includes renting two vans to travel, gas, hotel accommodations, and food. We have raised $12,000 so far but not there yet. We are counting on your generosity no matter how small it is. Every little bit will help us get closer to our goal.
