This is our Cooper, and He Needs Your Help.
Cooper is, our 8 year old Golden Retriever. We've had him from 10 weeks old. Cooper has recently been diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Please read on.

Cooper had recently become lethargic, quiet and has lost his appetite. A visit to our vet suggested a heart arrythmia, and an xray showed two tumors in his spleen. He stated, because of the heart issue, he was unable to do surgery on the spleen and referred us to an animal hospital that could do the surgery. Their analysis showed two tumors leaking into the abdomon, and suggested the surgery as soon as possible.

Surgery was performed the next day, draining 2.5 litres of blood drained from his abdomen, and removing the spleen. They stated after surgery the the cancer was "hemangiosarcoma" a very aggressive, incurable cancer, and that a sample would be sent to a pathologist. After his spleen was removed, his heart arrythmia thankfully cleared.

This week Cooper has rebounded. He is back to playing with his brother, playing his favorite chase game with us again, he takes something that belongs to us and sets it on the floor. He waits until we see him and then picks it and runs with it so we will chase him to get it back.

Today, we received a call stating that the results of his biopsy came back confirming the aggressive, metastatic cancer. The doctor said symptoms may not have shown yet, but soon will. Without additional medication (chemo), his time would be shortened, weeks to months.

We are a retired couple and the costs have been frightening.

We visited the vet for testing and analysis. The testing showed the heart still ok and we discussed Cooper's future. According to their experience, the kidneys, liver and heart are the next organs that will be the focus of the hemangiosarcoma(cancer) and suggested without chemo he would live 3-4 months, if chemo was added he could live through the year, possibly longer. Jaelyn and I discussed the options of the chemo at the additional expense and decided as long as he continued a happy quality of life, the cost was secondary. He had his first chemo treament at that time, ($970.07), and he'll have one avery three weeks($500+).

We hate to lose Cooper, he's so much a part of us now, but the cost of the surgery has been over $13,000 and additional treatment will add additional costs. We want to give him every chance to help him have the best life he possibly can have.
Donations of $10, $25 or $50+ are very appreciated.
