In a world that can feel unpredictable and intense, a child’s strength is deeply shaped by the love and support around them. My son, Cooper, faces more than his fair share of challenges and yet, he continues to meet them with courage and heart.

Cooper was born with a rare genetic condition that causes an incomplete partition type two and an enlarged vestibular aqueduct. These inner-ear issues have left him deaf in one ear and rapidly losing hearing in the other. We’re currently working toward getting him on the cochlear implant waiting list, but even beyond his hearing loss, Cooper’s journey hasn’t been easy.

He also lives with severe ADHD, which can make everyday things, like social settings, emotional regulation, and focus especially challenging. He lives such a big life for such a little guy, and that’s a lot to process. But even on the toughest days, he keeps trying, and that resilience amazes me every single day.

And then came Alegria, our angel in fur.

Since joining our family on March 28, 2025, Alegria has brought more than companionship she’s brought healing, balance, and peace. She helps Cooper learn to regulate his emotions, build confidence, and face the world with courage. On the hard days, she’s his calm in the chaos. On the good days, she’s his adventure buddy and biggest cheerleader.

But what I didn’t expect was how much Alegria would help me, too.

Navigating Cooper’s medical and emotional journey hasn’t always been easy, and there are days that feel heavy. Alegria has given me strength, grounding, and comfort in ways I can hardly put into words. She’s brought light and calm to our home, and her presence has made it possible for me to show up for Cooper with more patience, hope, and love.

The total cost to keep and fully train Alegria is $20,000, and while I’m making monthly payments toward her program, the rising cost of living makes it hard to do this alone. That’s why we’re once again leaning on the incredible community that’s already lifted us so far.

We’ve raised $5,620 so far, leaving $14,380 to go. Every donation, share, and kind word brings us one step closer to ensuring Alegria can stay by Cooper’s side and continue to support both of us as we navigate this journey together.
