In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 16th 2020, a freak electrical fire caused extensive damage to the roof of my home. Thankfully my father, Michael, was alerted and woken by the smoke and he and our beloved dog, Jon Jon were able to escape safely. My dad was able to call 911 and the Hammond Fire Department quickly responded to the scene and worked extremely hard until the fire was out. We are so blessed and grateful that the personal items in our rooms were untouched by flames and a lot of water damage. The damage could have easily been so much worse and we are so thankful to God and every single person who has helped us clean up, housed us, checked on us, prayed for us or helped in any way. Unfortunately due to lack of coverage, all repairs will have to come out of pocket. As of right now, I am starting this Go Fund Me for supplies and labor that will be required for this project. The roof of the house is the main project and we currently do not know the total cost to make all necessary repairs in order to make the home livable again. This is just to get started. I plan to hold multiple fundraisers in the near future that will contain many fun items to purchase so please look out for that. We understand the holidays just passed and funds are limited for everyone. Any amount is appreciated as well as sharing this link with your friends and family, if you know anyone who is skilled in construction work, carpentry or any similar field or are willing to volunteer once work begins, any and all help is welcome and highly appreciated.
