Hi everyone,
On Friday, 21st June, I'll be embarking on my biggest challenge yet – running the Epona 100 Ultra! This incredible race covers 100 miles (161km) of challenging terrain, and I'll be pushing my limits both physically and mentally to complete it.
The Epona 100 is no small feat. It involves a staggering 17,000 feet (5,182 meters) of elevation gain across the stunning South Wales landscape. Along the demanding route, with 23 summits along the way I'll be tackling some of the highest peaks in the Black Mountains, including:
Waun Fach (811 meters / 2,661 feet)
Pen y Gadair Fawr (800 meters / 2,625 feet)
Rhos Dirion (713 meters / 2,339 feet)
And the iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain (596 meters / 1,955 feet), which I'll be summitting twice!
I'm not just doing this for the personal challenge, though. I'm running to raise vital funds for Co-op Academy Brierley, a fantastic school dedicated to providing the best possible education and opportunities for its students.
As you can imagine, schools always need extra support to fund initiatives, resources, and experiences that enrich the lives of their pupils. Whether it's for new books, equipment, extracurricular activities, or supporting student well-being programmes, every penny raised will make a direct and tangible difference to the young people at Co-op Academy Brierley.
Training for a 100-mile ultra marathon with such significant elevation is a huge commitment. But knowing that every uphill struggle and every step I take will be helping the students at Co-op Academy Brierley will be an incredible motivator to keep going when the going gets tough.
Please, if you can, consider donating whatever you can afford. No matter how small, your contribution will be hugely appreciated and will directly benefit the amazing young people at the academy.
You can follow my progress (and hopefully send some virtual cheers!) before and during the race. I'll be sure to share updates on my training and on race day itself.
Thank you so much for your support!
