Let's get Cookie's vets bill covered!

Hi, my name is Carissa and I am starting this fundraiser to be able to get my beautiful girl the care her insurance are fighting. Cookie is, just like everyone's dog, my best friend and our family pet. Not only that, but she is my heart arrythmia alert dog. She saved both my life and the life of my unborn daughter after detecting a heart arrhythmia in me when I was 32 weeks pregnant. She's since continued to reliably alert me to changes in my heart rhythm, saving me from many injuries (caused by loss of consciousness) and distress. Now it's my turn to pay back the care she gave to me, but I can't do that without your help today.

2 months ago Cookie started stumbling on our normal walk. As it was hot we assumed it was heat stroke and gave her first aid. Then she unexpectedly started having issues walking again on the 19th of August whilst on a dog walk. She began stumbling like she was drunk, then collapsed on our walk. Over the next few days she developed seizures, that we're unsure if are related. As someone who loves her deeply, her seizures are horrifying to watch. Which is why we're trying to exhaust every resource for her, to get her the most appropriate treatment and help.

Sadly this isn't a case of "Don't get a dog if you can't afford their care.". Because we did everything any other responsible pet owner would do. We have insurance, we had money set aside for emergencies, we even have her on our vet practice's monthly care plan. We did it all. But now we've rinsed through her £2,000 emergency fund getting her emergency care and testing, and her insurance are refusing to cover the rest, leaving our girl with very limited options in terms of continuing her care. After the testing we managed to afford they believe Cookie is suffering with focal seizures, but she will need lifelong medication and potential further testing, which we desperately need help to fund.
