Cookie Graff was filled with kindness and joy. She was as sweet as her name! Her life was certainly an adventure. Cookie passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a stroke on January 10th, 2023. Her presence is greatly missed everyday.
In her life she was so many things to so many of us. Cookie was Mum to four children, grandmother to eight grand kids, sister to three siblings and a friend to many. For her, these were all things she loved being. She was passionate about many things in life her passion as a specialist of palms & crotons was particularly special to her. For more than forty years Cookie had been involved with the Rare Palm Society in South Florida, sharing her knowledge and love of these amazing plants. She had an extensive network of equally passionate, botanically involved friends and fellow plant lovers. She connected with everyone from the home gardeners, the plant aficionados and to the nursery workers and owners large and small across the region.
Cookie's family and friends want to honor her life and passions, keeping the memory of her kindness and spirit alive in a living memorial. We would like to dedicate a special rare palm tree with an accompanying bench and memorial plaque at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. This memorial bench and palm will let all that knew Cookie sit with her in a remarkable place. It will also allow us to share her passion and love for palms with everyone who takes a moment to rest there. We think she would be particularly delighted to be connecting people and plants into the future. We, her family and closest friends, are hoping to raise enough money to acquire and sponsor this memorial at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden. Please join us in continuing her legacy.
Please also note that there will be a memorial at Fairchild on May 6th, 2023 starting 11:30a.m. with the palm, bench and plaque to be placed & dedicated in the near future.
