I’m raising money for the Conwy ward, Ysbyty Gwynedd by running the Caernarfon half marathon on the 7th of September.

As many of you know, in February my mam was taken ill. Mam went to the GP with pains in her side on Wednesday the 12th of February, in which she was sent to the hospital with a suspected appendicitis. However, later that evening she was informed that she had a tumour on her bowel and was taken for surgery on Friday the 14th. Mam had an extensive operation that lasted 7 hours in which they removed the tumour, part of her bowel, her ovaries and her appendix. We were over the moon when a few weeks later we were given the news that the operation had been successful and no further treatment was needed. She is making an amazing recovery and is a true inspiration to us all, a strong woman with a positive outlook and we’re so proud of her.

The staff on the Conwy ward showed the greatest level of care towards her, as well as her surgeon and his team. She spent 19 days on the ward and the staff were attentive, kind and ensured that she was looked after making her feel at ease in their care. We can’t thank the wonderful staff on the ward for their incredible care and want to give a little something back. I’ve decided to take on the Caernarfon half marathon on the 7th of September with my friends Sophie, Caitlin and Zoe joining along side me, in order to raise money for the Conwy ward!
