Conway’s Journey to Represent Australia at JTF Europe 2027

Hi everyone, my name is Conway Oakhill-Saarenpaa and I’m 13 years old. I live in Medowie and I absolutely love performing…. singing, acting, dancing, anything to do with the stage! ✨
I’m incredibly excited (and still a little shocked!) to share that I’ve been selected to represent Australia at the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) Europe in May 2027 as part of the Travel Gang team. Only a small number of young performers across the country are chosen each year, and being selected means the world to me.
This opportunity will allow me to:
- Train with international theatre professionals
- Perform on the world stage
- Represent Medowie, Port Stephens and Australia
- Build skills that will help me for the rest of my life
Why I’m Fundraising
Although this is a dream come true, it comes with a big cost — $15,000 for travel, rehearsals, program fees and accommodation.
I really want to work hard and earn as much of this as I can myself. I’ve already started:
- Conway’s Cans for a Cause – collecting Return & Earn cans
- Busking
- Offering to perform at community events, fundraisers and business functions

- Using the $500 prize money I won as Port Stephens Battle of the Arts 2025 to pay for my first instalment
But lots of kind people in the Medowie community have asked if I could set up a GoFundMe page so they can support me that way too — so here it is.
How Your Support Helps
Any support — big or small — will help me get closer to this opportunity I’ve worked really hard for.
Funds raised will go directly towards:
- Flights to Europe
- Accommodation
- Program fees & rehearsals
- Costumes, materials & training resources.
I promise to keep working, performing, collecting cans, raising money and giving back wherever I can. I am so grateful for every chance I’ve been given, and it would mean everything to me to take this next big step.
