Hello, my name is Stan Bray, and I am the proud father of Nikki Mecham and father-in-law to Colt Mecham. I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of Nikki, Colt, and their sweet baby boy, Conway.
On July 7th, 2025, Nikki and Colt welcomed Conway into the world by emergency C-section at just 26 weeks, due to a placental abruption and severe preeclampsia. Conway was born weighing only 1lb 9oz—so tiny, yet already showing incredible strength.
Conway spent the first part of his life in a hospital in Orem, Utah. After many tests and labs, he was diagnosed with SCID (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency). SCID is a rare, life-threatening genetic disorder in which a baby is born with a severely underdeveloped immune system (on top of his already premature body and immune system). It is often called “bubble baby disease” because even common illnesses can be fatal, requiring the child to be isolated in a sterile environment. The only real treatment for SCID is a bone marrow transplant, which will hopefully give him a fighting chance at life.
Because Conway does not have an immune system, he has already had many infections. When he does get an infection, it progresses very quickly. During his stay in Orem, he developed an infection that worsened rapidly, and he had to be life-flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City for more advanced care.
Conway will be at Primary Children’s for a very extended period of time—working to overcome his prematurity milestones, searching for a donor for his bone marrow transplant, undergoing the procedure, and staying for recovery. After all of that, he will continue to have multiple appointments weekly for an extended period of time.
Nikki has not been able to work much, if at all, so that she can spend as much time as possible at the children’s hospital with Conway. She travels back and forth every day to be by his side while also making sure that Conway’s big sister, Isabella, is cared for at home. Colt continues working full time to support the family and is only able to visit Conway on the weekends. It has been overwhelming emotionally and financially, and Nikki and Colt are doing everything they can to hold things together during this difficult time.
With mounting medical bills, travel expenses, living expenses, and the loss of income, this young family is under incredible financial strain.
We are reaching out for help—whether through donations, prayers, or by sharing Conway’s story. Every contribution will go directly toward medical costs, travel, and essential living expenses, allowing Colt and Nikki to focus on what matters most: helping their baby fight for his life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support for Conway, Isabella, Nikki, and Colt Mecham.
