Hello all friends and family! My name is Kirstina Meyers and I am starting a fundraiser for my dear friends Andy and Sarah Griess. Their son, Conway Andrew Griess was born in December with a congenital heart defect. He was officially diagnosed with pulmonary Atresia with VSD and MAPCAS. His pulmonary value didn't form correctly and is too small to supply oxygen to his lungs. It was also noted at birth that he has strider(noisy breathing). He was sent home to grow and get stronger for surgery in the next few months. During a pre-op physical last week, the cardiac surgeon wasn't convinced his strider and labored breathing was part of his heart condition. Conway was admitted to Children's Hospital for an ENT evaluation. On Friday April 8th, Conway had a bronchoscopy done where they found a completely separate rare condition called Complete Tracheal Rings. The rings should be C shaped but some of Conways are completely formed circles. This new discovery will require surgery to repair and since both defects affect each other, it has been determined that both surgeries need to be done simultaneously. There are only so many hospitals that do these surgeries together. Sarah and Andy have been waiting for Conway's doctors to determine a plan of action; however, during the early morning of April 13th, Conway became agitated causing his oxygen to drop into the 50-60 range. His nurse eventually called in code and he was intubated. They are now considering him critical and his doctors have decided to transfer Conway to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto California. Their surgeons will be able to perform both surgeries together and properly care for him in recovery. He will be in the best hands with the best surgeons.

 

 

We are creating this fund to help out Andy and Sarah in any way possible as they prepare Conway for travel, major surgery, and recovery. Prayers are also much appreciated.
