As winter bites and Russian aggression targets the Ukrainian population with ever greater privations and misery it is more important than ever to extend a genuine hand of fellowship to the blameless civilians who are the innocent victims of these callous and relentless acts. With your help we hope to deliver a convoy of at least six ambulances to support the people of Ukraine on the anniversary of Russia’s invasion - 24 February 2023.
Medical Life Lines Ukraine is a London-based group that has so far delivered 16 aid-filled ambulances to where they are needed most in war-torn Ukraine since Russia’s invasion on 24 February 2022. The invasion has destroyed clinics and diverted medics and supplies to the front line. But the civilian demand for humanitarian aid and medical support is massive. We focus on three key objectives:
- Ambulances for hospitals: hospitals near the front line have lost ambulances either due to enemy action or to support Ukraine’s military. They urgently need good quality vehicles to provide the medical support that their civilian populations desperately need
- Community transport hubs: vulnerable people in small communities in rural areas of Ukraine are hard to reach, their needs often unmet. Our vehicles enable small NGOs to coordinate the delivery of life-saving humanitarian aid and medical support
- Deliver aid: our ambulances arrive in Ukraine filled to the brim with medical and practical aid including dressings and medical tools, PPE, defibrillators, generators, clothes, blankets and even toys for displaced people who have lost everything.
Each ambulance costs some £15-20,000 to buy, recondition and deliver to Ukraine so the biggest thing that you can do to help is through supporting our fundraising, either by direct donations to one of our charity partners in the US, UK and Canada (and elsewhere if that would help!) or by helping with our fundraising activities at schools, sports clubs, community events and elsewhere. We are also very happy to hear from possible drivers … Do please get in touch!
