Dear Friends,
I had a very tough year. Most recently, in early September, I was mugged just outside my house. I am unable to meet the financial repercussions from the mugging, because when it happened, I was still healing from a bad car accident that happened in May.
I was walking to BART to meet my friend for dinner to celebrate my belated birthday. I pulled out my phone for a second to check the train times. A young man ran up and snatched my phone. As I turned and ran to see the license plate of his car, another guy came from out of nowhere. He dragged me down to the ground so hard by my purse that he broke both of my feet. They both got away in an old Honda with the license partially taped over by black and reflective green tape. Thus, I believe these guys planned to rob me and likely others.
I will be in a wheelchair for almost 2 months with 2 broken feet. Then, I will still be disabled. I will have to relearn how to walk. There are stairs to my house that keep me at home. My 2 broken feet keep me needing assistance for everyday activities.
I am asking for help, because there was no financial safety net left to catch me through the mugging. The car accident left me in a terrible position to physically and financially deal with the mugging. As a self-sufficient and successful adult, I have a hard time asking others for money. I am looking for alternatives. However, right now, there are everyday living expenses, credit card minimums, and healthcare expenses to fulfill.
I am incredibly grateful for all my friends, family, and extended family. I am especially grateful for all of my friends that have personally come over or lent a hand to relieve this strain. I understand not everyone is capable of leaving work during the day nor has free time and resources to offer. Please consider anything that you can contribute.
