Contribute to the Future of No-Kill Poultry Farming

My name is Paul Swift, a scientist from Washington state with a vision to transform the poultry industry. I'm launching a Non-profit organization called Christina's Chicken Farm, Washington's first truly "No-Kill" chicken egg farm (also known as "Ohne Kükentöten" in Germany), named in honor of my grandmother, Christina, whose family raised chickens and who, for the rest of her life, could never bring herself to eat chicken. Since I began raising chickens, and learning to love them during COVID, both myself and my family have given up eating chicken meat.

I'm combining my scientific background with compassionate farming to make a meaningful impact for both people and animals through two main initiatives:

1. Ethical "No-Kill" Farming: Following Germany's successful model, where all egg farms have been certified "Ohne Kükentöten" since 2021, at Christina's Chicken Farm we'll never destroy male chicks - a horrific practice common in the industry where male chicks are killed and sometimes fed to their siblings.

2. Innovative Research: We'll conduct large-scale modeling research on non-destructive egg sexing techniques using egg shape (Shape Index) to predict chick gender before hatching, helping solve both financial and moral challenges in poultry farming. We will be validating recent research conducted by the National Institute of Health [Kayadan M, Uzun Y. High accuracy gender determination using the egg shape index. At Christina's Chicken Farm, we're reimagining the role of all chickens on the farm:

- Roosters and older hens will participate in regenerative agriculture practices

- Our chickens will serve as natural pest controllers for insects and rodents

- They'll help revitalize land with their rich droppings while grazing

- Happy, healthy, active chickens produce more high-quality eggs
