Image of the first iteration of Transparency in November 2020.
The Transparency Project is focused on elevating, highlighting, and supporting the voices, narratives, and representation of Transgender and Gender-Expansive people. It is a response to cultural attitudes and attempts to control the narrative and representation of a community with an identity. From the rhetoric "Trans people are a burden to the military budget" which led to the executive order from the 45th president, to anti-Trans bills and legislation, this exhibition and its related programming is about using Art, Design, and Technology as platforms for the community to tell us who they are in their own voice.
The project is about representation and its relationship with reality and how it can affect the reality of the people represented. Your contributions, if you choose to donate, primarily go to paying artists for their intellectual and artistic labor and also go towards addressing the logistics of the exhibition and its programming.
