Our friend Patrick Rivait recently contracted West Nile Virus in early September. The vast majority of people unlucky enough to fall ill with this mosquito borne virus fully recover in days or weeks with mild to moderate symptoms. Patrick was struck with early severe symptoms but this was followed by a less common associated neuroinvasive disease that includes extreme muscle weakness and paralysis. This has resulted in his inability to walk or stand and he has limited movement of his arms. Patrick is a uniquely kind and caring individual, hard working to the core and tirelessly devoted to his friends and family. Patrick is currently being cared for at the Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Long-Term Care facility. Any contribution to help financially assist Patrick's personal/health needs while he is undergoing a very difficult and challenging but determined recovery would be greatly appreciated.
