Contribute to Mark Mendez's Memorial Fund

On March 16th, Mark Mendez tragically lost his life from injuries sustained in a senseless act of violence. We are devastated by the sudden loss of Mark and are reaching out for support to cover the costs of his funeral & memorial services and hospital expenditures.

Known throughout his beloved community as Mendez, he was one of the coolest and most supportive people around. No matter the distance, Mendez was always checking in, making connections, sharing new music, and brightening people's days with his humor. In Seattle, he was a cornerstone in the underground punk and metal scene. He published Thorozine for many years covering local bands. You could find Mendez in several Seattle mainstays: the Storeroom, Lake Union Pub, Gibson's, Lobo/Victory, or Zak's/Funhouse. Most recently, Mendez also organized and played in bar softball leagues and helped organize pinball tournaments at Shorty's and Jupiter in Belltown - where you could almost always find him. If you didn't know Mendez, you probably saw him around.

You may have met me (Chris, Mark's nephew) or my father Mike (Little Mendez) in recent years at Shorty's when visiting Mark. We've received an outpouring of support from Mark's community in Seattle and we want to give him the send-off he deserves. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward covering funeral and memorial services, as well as lingering hospital bills. Any additional contributions will be donated to a charity that Mark would've believed in - or a cause in his name.
