As many of you know, dad is nearing the end of his long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. For over two years, mom has been his primary caregiver. She has stayed true to the vows she took 50 years ago when she promised to love him “in sickness and in health.”

After his first stroke in May, dad started home hospice which has been a tremendous blessing to our family. An additional blessing was that it was covered by Medicare.

Following his second stroke not even a week ago on August 19, we quickly learned that mom (even with my help) simply couldn’t meet all the medical needs he requires at this point. She cannot lift him, among dozens of other challenging tasks.

After much prayer and discussion, we made the difficult decision to move him to a local hospice home. There, he will receive 24/7 healthcare and mom will be able to just be “Linda,” his wife, again. It will relieve her of the constant worry of being alone with him without confidently feeling like she can provide the best care for him, as well as persistent attempts to help him all on her own (with home hospice, nurses just come once a day).

Here’s the catch. The hospice home is 100% out-of-pocket. Dozens and dozens of you have asked how you can help, and now we have an answer. Please consider donating to help lessen the financial strain on mom.

She intends to stay at the facility full time until precious dad takes his final breath, so she’ll have a bed in his room but they do not have a cafeteria/cafe, etc. so DoorDash giftcards are awesome too!
