My name is Melissa and I truly appreciate you taking some time to read the following. My family recently suffered the tragic and sudden loss of my sister, Jessica Marie Garza Herrera, who leaves behind her parents, siblings, family, and two cats, Cooper and Omar.

Jessica was an amazing and beautiful young lady who was loved and cared for by many. Anyone who knew Jessica knew that she was a sweetheart and cared for so many, as she always liked to help others in any way she could. Jessica graduated from Sacramento State in 2021 with her Bachelor's degree in Women’s and Gender Studies and was going to Sacramento State to get her Master's degree in Gender Equity Studies. Jessica was passionate about helping others and had goals to help women involved in the criminal justice system. Jessica loved running and working out, nutrition and fitness were passions of hers; you would always find her at the gym or walking her favorite dog, Tex. Jessica loved spending time with family and friends, but most importantly, she loved her cats.

Jessica will be missed by so many, and her legacy will live on forever in our hearts. At this time, we will be doing a small ceremony with close family and friends to honor Jess. For those of you who are able to donate, we are asking for any contribution to help cover the funeral expenses so Jessica can be laid to rest peacefully. My family and I thank you for your support and love during this difficult time.
