Courey recently got into a serious truck roll over and needs your help.
The wreck was on her way to work. She lost control around the corner of a heavily wash-boarded dirt road where she and her dog got ejected 40-50 feet from the truck as her truck rolled through the barbed wire fence.
She shattered her pelvis in addition to fracturing her tailbone, arm and skull sustaining a traumatic brain injury. She was life flighted to the hospital. Emergency surgery the following morning set her pelvis back together with two titanium rods that go from hip-bone to hip-bone and another to hold her together in the front.
Courey is in the process of learning how to utilize basic motor functions in her legs, torso and right arm as she lost much of her ability to function normally after the wreck. She will be wheelchair bound for over two months before she will be able to apply enough pressure on her healing pelvis to learn to walk again.
She is working diligently through her pain to regain muscle control though occupational and physical therapy to be able to be independent again. However until then, she will not be able to be working for approximately 5-6 months or so at her job as Heavy Equipment Operator. She is looking at selling her horse trailer to help make ends meet as growing bills pile up.
Her dog is also very lucky to be alive surviving the accident. Her dog Lullaby, spent a week under intense observation at the Veterinarian Clinic following the accident. No obvious injuries were sustained other than her heart disease that she was diagnosed with a month prior. All of her animals, her horse, dog and cats are currently being boarded or in foster homes with friends until Courey has recovered enough to take care of them again.
We are grateful for medical insurance, car insurance, and partial disability to cover some of the main costs, however they will not cover everything. She is a single woman trying to make ends meet on her own. While Courey is a Veteran of the Army National Guard, she no longer receives medical benefits at this time. Her situation will also be a hinderance to her normal activities in which much time and training will be involved for her to accomplish again safely like riding her beloved horse and backpacking, etc. As bills pile up in addition to trying to save for in home care and other expenses to ease her back into daily life with her new circumstances in mind, we are reaching out as any support that you could possibly afford would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. I know Courey is extremely grateful to all of her Friends, Family, and Everyone else who has and continues to support her though this as one of the hardest times in her entire life.
Sincerely, Brenda S. A close friend.
