Hello everyone, my name is Aaliyah Brunson, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my mom, Edwina Anderson, who recently suffered a life-changing stroke. She’s currently in a rehabilitation center but is in urgent need of ongoing care and physical therapy to regain her strength and mobility. Unfortunately, her insurance is no longer covering the costs, and we’re facing the challenge of finding her the care she needs without the financial means to do so.
On October 5th, I received a call from her number around 5 am and instantly got worried. I was told the news that she had suffered from a major stroke (Cerebrovascular Accident), where a few days prior, she had undergone surgery. She had to have a part of her skull removed, or she wouldn’t have survived. She has paralyzing effects on her left side of the body. She was admitted to the hospital, where she stayed in the ICU for twenty-eight days. She was then admitted to a rehabilitation center where she is working hard to recover with the help of physical therapy and support. The pain she’s endured has been astronomical. Her therapy is important not only for her quality of life but independence as well, as she was taking care of her 90-year-old husband, James.
The biggest challenge that we are facing right now is that her insurance has stopped covering her rehabilitation care, and she is on the verge of being admitted out as we speak. The costs for staying in a new facility or getting outpatient physical therapy are unaffordable for our family.
Rehabilitation is absolutely critical for stroke survivors, and this care will help her regain her strength, reduce her pain, and improve her well-being. The funds we receive will be used towards her medical costs (center fees, physical therapy, medications), transportation to therapy, and any associated living expenses. My mother is the rock of our family. Without her, I feel like nothing. My family still needs her, and her recovery means a lot to us. Your support would mean so much to not only her but our family as well!
Every bit helps. We are deeply grateful for any support you can offer. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign among your family and peers would mean the world to us. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time!
