Help your favorite Mixologist become a Sommlier
Donation protected
My name is Dea Pierre and I'm a mixologist with over 10 years of experience. I’ve worked in world-renowned bars and have had cocktails featured in Michelin star restaurants. I've competed in multiple bartending competitions and have placed in the finals on several occasions. After taking a step back during the pandemic, I realized how important community is to me and how much I want to contribute to it. That's why I'm starting a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for my sommelier education.
As someone who's passionate about creating the best possible drinking experiences, I feel like becoming a sommelier is the next logical step in my career. By becoming a sommelier, I can learn even more about pairings, flavors, and the intricacies of serving wine. I want to use that knowledge to help my community, The Little Carribean, and to bring a fresh perspective to the industry.
But here's the thing: becoming a sommelier isn't cheap. Between tuition, books, and supplies, the costs can add up quickly. That's why I'm reaching out to you for help. If you've ever enjoyed a well-made cocktail or if you're interested in supporting underrepresented voices in the industry, I'd love if you could contribute to my campaign.
Only a small percentage of sommeliers are Black, and an even smaller percentage are women. I want to help change that. By becoming a sommelier, I can help give a voice to other black women who haven't always had one in the industry. That's why it's so important to me to get the education I need to do it right.
If you choose to support me, you'll be helping me build a career that can help other black aspiring mixologists, sommeliers, and bartenders see the value in their work. You'll be contributing to a diverse industry that places value on all voices and work to teach those who may not have the same opportunities as others. Not just that, but my contributions to the industry will also inspire people who are passionate about creating the perfect drink and encourage diversity in learning.
Thank you so much for considering my GoFundMe campaign. I can't wait to get started on my sommelier education and I can't wait to make a positive impact on the industry. Anything helps and will be greatly appreciated!
With Gratitude,
Desselyn “Dea” Pierre
