Contribute to Chris's Recovery

Chris and Cheryl hold a special place in my heart that began simply by loving the same band. Music is the ultimate initiation for long time friendship, and both Cheryl and Chris are long time friends. Sometimes the best people are plagued with a plight no one should have to face. Unfortunately, Chris is no longer in remission and continues to be faced with health issues that are not improving.

Chris was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer called Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma over eight years ago, despite being given a life expectancy of only 2-5 years. He has defied the odds through unwavering dedication, never missing an appointment or failing to take his 17 daily pills, no matter how terrible they make him feel. Because of his resilience, those around him call him “Superman.” His journey has been incredibly difficult, including two major invasive surgeries, three different types and rounds of chemotherapy, and now his second round of radiation. Not all of his medications are covered by insurance, adding to the challenges he faces.

The medication that helped keep him in partial remission had to be stopped due to side effects, and in the short time he was off it, the cancer returned aggressively. Currently, he is undergoing ten days of radiation to target a large set of tumors in his abdomen, continuing to fight with the same strength and determination that has carried him this far.

On behalf of Chris and Cheryl I’m reaching out to kindly ask for any contribution you might be willing to give. The ambiguity of the situation provides little opportunity to plan accordingly and we all know our healthcare system is flawed beyond repair. That being said, Cheryl and Chris want to note their sincere and utmost gratitude for the surgeons, doctors, nurses and specialists who continue to provide expertise and unwavering hope and support along side them. It takes a village, and their gratitude also respectfully extends to friends and family who have also shown up now, then, and for always.
