Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. I am raising funds to contribute to the construction of a masjid, as a means of ongoing blessings for my beloved father, Essa Awad Egeh, who has recently returned to Allah. Though the mosque itself is not named after him, I am donating to it on his behalf, with the hope that this act will bring continuous reward to his soul. My father was born in Burco and left as a young man in the 1950s to work on the ships. He eventually settled in Liverpool, where he built a life of hard work, dignity, and care for his family and community. His journey from Burco to Liverpool was one of courage and sacrifice, and he never forgot his faith or his roots. Therefore, this mosque will serve as a place of prayer, community, and guidance for generations to come, and every prayer and act of worship that takes place within it will be a source of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) for his soul.
