Continuous use of Bob Hooyman’s ventilator

Hello my name is Charissa Hooyman. I am fundraising for my husband.

My husband had to go on hospice due to the progression of the disease he has, inclusion body myositis. It is a disease that affects the muscles.

Due to his collapsed right lung and diaphragm he needs the Philips Respironics Trilogy ventilator to help expel the carbon dioxide out of his lungs, without it the carbon dioxide will cause problems with his respiratory system.

When people go on Hospice, Medicare will not pay or even pay a portion of the cost, because Medicare does not consider the Trilogy ventilator as Comfort Care.

The monthly cost is $1,530.13. With this monthly cost comes 24 hr help, and supplies, such as humidifier chambers, filters, hoses, and face masks that work with my husband’s face.

Our goal is to raise $18,361.56, which will be enough for one year. In the event that my husband passes within the year, the remainder of the money raised will be used for his funeral expenses.
