Continuing Tyler's Legacy of Kindness and Connection

After a courageous battle with mental illness and worsening health challenges, Tyler died by suicide in August 2021. Tyler was a 2020 graduate of Parkway Central High School, a member of Alpha Sigma Phi at Indiana University, a top student and athlete, and—above all—a beloved son, brother, and friend whose warmth and inclusiveness touched everyone around him.

To honor Tyler’s memory, his family and friends, in collaboration with Parkway Central, established a memorial scholarship fund to support graduating senior student-athletes who exemplify Tyler’s extraordinary qualities. Since 2022, ten outstanding seniors have received scholarships recognizing not only their athletic and academic excellence but also their compassion, integrity, and leadership—the very traits that defined Tyler.

This year, we continue the tradition by raising funds for the Class of 2026 Tyler Memorial Scholarship Awards.

Tyler’s friends and teammates describe him best:

He welcomed everyone with an attitude of inclusiveness.

He built friendships with people others found hard to reach.

He was kind, curious, and deeply thoughtful.

He went out of his way to make others feel seen and included.

He was a supportive, enthusiastic teammate and a natural leader.

He challenged those around him to think deeply about life and connection.

In addition to the scholarship, a portion of the funds will benefit CHADS Coalition for Mental Health—a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing depression and suicide through education, awareness, and support for youth and families.

Mental health struggles affect countless lives, often invisibly. In Tyler’s memory, we invite you to honor his spirit by checking in on your friends and loved ones, showing kindness, and helping us continue this mission of awareness, empathy, and hope.

Your support keeps Tyler’s legacy alive—helping others live fully, love deeply, and never feel alone.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
