Continuing the mission of the land trust

Since 1994 Landmark Heritage Trust has worked to place conservation easements on five beautiful properties – Landfall Farm in Newburgh, Northern Pond Natural Area in Monroe, a woodlot property in Hampden, Cove Brook property in Winterport, and Turtle Head Park in Hampden.

Our Board of Directors was able to accomplish this work on an all-volunteer basis and we’re very proud of what we’ve been able to do with your support and of the benefits that these properties bring to this part of Maine. However, managing a land trust has become more complicated and expensive and our small board has decided we should look to the next chapter in the protection of these important properties. We have asked Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) to assume oversight of our five easements. MCHT has agreed and we are beginning the process of transferring the easements.

We are writing to you now because your contributions over the years have helped to conserve these extraordinary properties. To accomplish the transfer to MCHT, the easements must be brought into compliance with updated requirements and additional stewardship funds are needed so these easements can be properly managed in perpetuity.

MCHT has projected that we need to raise $63,000 to ensure that current and future costs are met and the restrictions on these properties are upheld. Please help us achieve this goal by making a generous donation to Landmark so that we can then transfer ownership of our easements to MCHT along with the easement management funds.
