With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hermogenes Damo Desierto, who left us peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Florida, surrounded by family. Born in Tarlac, Philippines, he was orphaned as a teenager and lovingly raised by the Coloma family, who instilled in him the values of generosity, family loyalty, and service to others.
Hermogenes built a distinguished career, serving as Chief Financial Officer at Univet Laboratories before immigrating to the United States in 1990 to support his wife, Elvira, and their five sons. In America, he worked as a general accountant at Navy Federal Credit Union, where he continued to exemplify diligence and integrity.
A devoted husband, he cared for Elvira at home during her final months, ensuring she was surrounded by love and dignity. A skilled investor and generous provider, his dreams—even of great wealth—always centered on helping others, particularly children, families, and communities in need.
He loved discussing business, economics, history, and traveling, and never lost his love for the Philippines. Survived by his sons and three grandchildren, Hermogenes leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to family. He is now reunited with Elvira and his loved ones who have gone before him.
We are deeply grateful that our parents planned ahead for this moment, easing much of the financial burden for the funeral and burial. The main expenses have already been covered. In lieu of flowers, we are humbly welcoming donations—though there is absolutely no expectation. Contributions will help with small but meaningful details, such as décor, food for the gathering, and other touches to honor Dad’s memory. Any remaining funds will support the orphanage project in the Philippines that was so close to his heart. There are also other ways to honor and continue Dad’s legacy. We humbly ask that you pray the Rosary once in his name or carry forward the generosity he embodied—by helping others, offering kindness, or giving in ways that touch lives, just as he did.
