Continued Need for Feeding Tube

My kid brother, John Schwab, has always been there for me, his family and his community, quick to help in times of need or crisis. In addition, when his wife developed chronic health issues, he selflessly became her primary caregiver, all while working two jobs. He has been a rock for many.

A diagnosis of Stage 4 Cancer of the Larynx knocked him off his feet. It didn’t seem fair, but we knew that he would beat it...and he did! John has been cancer-free since Christmas, but his health crisis isn’t over. Aggressive chemo and radiation treatments left him with severe scar tissue damage along his throat,”Esophageal Stricture”, leaving him unable to eat all solid foods or drink/swallow many liquids. All nutritional intake is through an abdominal feeding tube. He recently underwent surgery at U of M Hospital to repair the damage, but the scarring was severe and the prognosis isn't known yet. He has a lot of work ahead of him, including frequent hospital visits for therapy, to learn how to swallow again and for training on how to dilate his throat to keep the scar tissue at bay.

Medical expenses have mounted, and continue to grow. With this campaign we are asking for financial help in handling medical costs, as well as travel and accommodations expenses, when needed. More importantly, we ask for your prayers for a really great guy! We are a family that believes in miracles. Also...please share this campaign with your friends and family. Thank you!
