Hello, My name is Jy’ahir Long I am from South Central Los Angeles California and am currently attending Tennessee State University as a freshman. I am currently majoring in Political Science to become a criminal defense lawyer for bipoc citizens. I am starting this gofundme to help further my college education and help pay my unpaid tuition. I am a first generation college student trying to beat the statistics against me. I was born to a teenage mother and raised by my maternal grandmother who did the very best she could to raise me.
While attending high school I was a very involved student who was a remember of several clubs including R.O.T.C, for three years, Yearbook ,B.S.L.A ( Black Student Leadership Alliance) and lastly B.S.A.P (Black Student Achievement Program). Being apart of this type of environment is what encouraged myself to apply and attend a historically black college in the first place. Although I got into several Cal State Universities I know that the educational system could not guarantee the leadership and community that I would experience at an H.B.C.U.
While attending TSU in Fall of 22 I received partial financial aid covering my expenses unbeknownst to me, which led to my tuition being unpaid and me not allowed to attend or transfer to any other college until I am in good standing. Being that I am from a low income family there is no way to cover this cost without a little help. I am asking for donations so that I can further my education and pursue a criminal justice degree like I planned on.
