Continue Jackie's Legacy and Support Students in Guatemala

Tax deductible
July 5, 2024, marks 3 years since my mom, Jackie Griffin, a lifelong educator and a constant voice for the unheard, left this earthly realm. She is definitely still alongside me, and I feel her often when the hummingbirds flutter close, when I’m getting ready to do something I’m nervous about (she cheers me on!), and when I’m in Guatemala, the last place she called home.

I am inspired to continue her work in supporting the children in the community of San Antonio Aguas Calientes in Guatemala. Jackie volunteered and worked closely with the students and families in their school and education programs during the close to 3 years she lived in Guatemala. She was especially connected to students preparing for post-secondary education and supported them in developing leadership skills and in inspiring them towards serving others as well.

The Jackie Griffin Memorial Fund was established after her death to support post-secondary education for graduating students of the school programs in San Antonio Aguas Calientes. All of this work is sponsored through Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans, the non-profit led by her (and now my) dear friend, Vicki Horsfield, who continues to work and live in the community there.

I hope you'll want to help continue the important work Jackie began and make a donation to the Jackie Griffin Memorial Fund to support students on their journey of post-secondary education, and break the cycle of poverty for many students and their families. Take a moment and listen and watch a few of these aspiring students and you will be inspired by their commitment to not only learning and growth, but to supporting their families and communities.

I chose the initial amount of $3,333 in honor of my mom's love of numerology, the power of numbers. "3" is a number of connection, positivity, and creativity, and Jackie certainly embodied that and fostered it in all those around her.

I hope to keep this fund going for many years to come, and I hope you will consider a donation now, but also annually, in memory of the life and legacy of my mom, Jackie Griffin. If you want to consider a monthly donation to sponsor an individual student, please reach out to me. I will connect you with Vicki Horsfield, who runs Creating Opportunities for Guatemalans, and would welcome long-term sponsorship of these amazing students!

Thank you in advance for considering this powerful way of continuing Jackie's legacy.
