Continue Erik's Legacy: Martin's Education
Donation protected
In the summer of 2007, Erik Gregory and Andy Lewis led a digital arts camp in Kigoma, Tanzania, sponsored by the Pearson Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program. It was there they met Isack, a standout participant with a passion for filmmaking.
After the camp, Isack and a few friends formed a small production team, initially calling themselves the Pearson Production Team. With a laugh, Erik explained they’d need a new name, and they quickly rebranded to PPT.
Erik recognized their talent and involved PPT in projects across Africa, mentoring Isack at every step. Even after the original program ended, Erik stayed connected, guiding Isack’s journey—including bringing him to the United Nations.
This friendship continued, and Isack credited Erik with changing his life. Isack had a son in 2015, who was named Martin (Erik’s middle name). Erik and his mother, Marian, have sponsored Martin’s private school education, enabling him to reach his full potential.
Martin attends Ave Maria English Medium primary school in Kahama, Tanzania. When Martin was diagnosed with autism, Erik helped Isack find the best school in the area to provide support for Martin’s needs. Martin also receives transportation, meals, supplies, school uniforms, and sports uniforms. We can think of no better way to honor Erik, than to continue this educational support for Martin. It was very important to Erik that Martin receive a quality education — one which will lead to advantageous opportunities throughout his life.
If you are so moved, we welcome your participation in continuing Martin’s education through 2031. Primary education goes through 2027, and then Martin will attend secondary school. Sponsoring Martin to the end would fulfill so many dreams, especially Erik’s.
