On August 22 of this year, my life was turned upside down. I was physically assaulted by my husband in front of our 3 children. He was arrested that night and I immediately filed for a Personal Protection Order but this order did not protect my children. I knew I had to hire an attorney to help me file for a restraining order, divorce and file temporary orders through family law that would ultimately protect my children as well. My soon to be ex husband has made this process so ugly and incredibly hard on all of us. He is trying to destroy me financially and continues to drain the bank account going against court orders. He has quit his job in attempt to not have to pay child support or any court fees. The next step in taking my power back is to file for contempt but the more filing and court hearings there are, the more funds are desperately needed.
I do run a couple of small business's that bring in a few hundred dollars a month but obviously, not enough income to sustain mine and my children's needs on top of being left to pay court fees, attorney fees, and all of the bills.
To file for contempt against my abusive husband, my attorney needs a $3500 deposit and I have only have a couple hundred dollars to my name. I need the money I have to keep the lights on, running water, and food in the fridge. I am also afraid that if I can not continue to keep my attorney that the changes that will happen will affect my children in a very negative way. They have already had to go through so many major life changes in such a short amount of time and they don't deserve to be pawns in this nasty game he is playing. Keeping my attorney is crucial at this point in protecting my children and myself.
I hate admitting that I need help but right now it's not about me or my pride. It's about being real and asking for any and all help. All donations will be received with tons of gratitude.
