A house that kids can call a Home

For years I have helped families of low or no income in El Cano, La Ceiba sector, in Higuey, Dominican Republic, and its surrounding neighborhoods. About two years ago, with the support of the local community, we have been serving breakfasts to the children of that area. Due to COVID-19, we had to cancel these breakfasts. The breakfast was replaced with groceries being delivered to families in need.

I felt that it was not enough and that our Mission went beyond what we were providing. I felt that my purpose was to help the children who are the most vulnerable. That is why I formed the Foundation, “El Tiempo Es Ahora (FUTIAH) [Translated in English: The Time Is Now], in the Dominican Republic.

The Foundation will bring to this region of the country a place where the children we receive can call home. A place where our children feel safe and loved. We are going to be receiving orphaned, abused and abandoned children. In addition to the home, we will be helping children who live in extreme poverty. Our children will receive food, a place to live, an education and medical treatment, as they need it. Our foundation will also provide assistance to families of children who need help with medicine or some medical care, help with food, clothing, education, and school supplies.

We have the piece of land where we are going to build the orphanage and also the dirt to level the land. Now we are waiting on someone the offer to donate the service of the machinery to compact the land. After we finish compacting the land, we will be ready to start the construction, but we need help, help to build and equip the Home. Our goal is to finish the construction of the building, furnish the Home, and an outdoor recreational area. The plan is to have everything completed by the middle of 2025 and to begin receiving children shortly after.

The Foundation is registered and established in Higuey, Dominican Republic. It is not recognized in the United States, which is why we unable to do any marketing over there. We have faith that The Lord will open people’s hearts, and help us reach our goals.
