Conserving marine life, volunteering in Thailand

SPONSOR US WALKING THE SEVEN HILLS OF EDINBURGH!

Hi, we are Vica, Matthew, and Zoe. We are 16 years old, turning 17, from Scotland currently still in secondary school and we are fundraising money for a voluntary trip, which teaches us about marine conservation, cultural education, and diving.

During our trip, we will be pushed out of our comfort zone, exposed to new perspectives and life experiences, all while testing our physical and mental wellbeing. We will be travelling to Thailand where we will learn to dive and gain skills and knowledge in marine life. We will be taking part in survey dives with experienced divers, expanding our marine life knowledge, planting and maintaining coral reefs, all while cleaning up the beaches of Koh Tao. Additionally, we will be taking classes to learn more about the Thai culture and traditions.

To raise money for this trip, we will be walking the seven hills of Edinburgh. We will start at Castle hill and walk all the way to Corstorphine hill, climbing each of the seven on our way. We have also done many smaller fundraisers such as bake sales to help us raise the money. 

This would be the opportunity of a lifetime for us. We have taken biology in school up to Higher and are considering taking it into further education. The qualifications this would give us, such as our PADI advanced open water certificates, would be very beneficial to our university applications as they would help us stand out from the crowd. We would really appreciate any and all donations to help us achieve our dream and have this once in a lifetime experience!
