In March of 2025, a few months before I depart for Madagascar I finally finished the project proposal for the research I plan to do in Madagascar. My friends and I will be using Wildlife Acoustic Recording equipment alongside ethograms to collect data during our time on the island.
I would be deeply grateful for any financial support you can provide towards my journey to make a difference in the world both in conservation research and conservation education for local communities abroad. Any assistance will truly help fulfill my dream of doing conservation work in Madagascar. Thank you for your support!
Cost breakdown:
Total cost of the internship is approximately $9,000 - $11,000 USD
Roundtrip flights range from approximately $2000 - $4000 USD
Travel Insurance ranges from $400 - $600, depending on the length - I often use Allianz
Toiletries and personal packing need to be biodegradable as this is an island nation, and we are entirely sustainable, so using biodegradable products is a must.
I will be doing my own data collection while out there, so I need to get a bioacoustic recorder (I am looking into the Song Meter Micro 2 by Wildlife Acoustics, which is around $149) and micro SDXC cards ($20 / card). Ideally, we would love to get 2 camera traps to set up along some transects in the park.
