Conrad Blome

Hello, my name is Krista and I am a close family friend. Unfortunately, Conrad was in a motorcycle accident on September 10th around 7:00pm, and he was not wearing a helmet.. He went off the road to avoid a head on collision with an oncoming car and hit a field approach. He was thrown into the air and the motorcycle landed on his head. He was found unresponsive with agonal breathing, and the officer onsite did not think he was going to make it. He was flown to HCMC, and is in the trauma unit.
Conrad is ventilated and in critical condition and the staff are working very hard to take excellent care of him. He has bleeds in his right frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes of his brain. We aren't sure but he may have fractures in this area as well (conflicting reports) and there is a large laceration there they have stapled The radiology films are still being officially read. He also has several facial fractures including one pushing into his brain. They are consulting an ENT surgeon to see what the plan will be for this. He also has a cervical fractures and likely rib fractures. He has bilateral pulmonary contusions but his abdomen and extremities are normal so far. He is moving all extremeties to pain so this is a great sign!!!! We would love to see those big brown eyes but we aren't there yet. (Amazingly... and of course ....his hair still looks perfect.) They did have to give him some atropine to raise his heart rate and he has been getting albumin to keep his blood pressures up. Giving pain medication and sedation has been tricky because of this They are contemplating placing an external ventricular drain to lower the pressures in his brain. Tbey are rescanning his brain at 4am and will make a decision at this time. We are hopeful this is a good sign that they haven't had to insert this yet.

Update as of September 14th: Conrad said s still sedated and is on a feeding tube and ventilator. He also has a tube in his head to monitor his brain pressure. The doctors have yet to determine the extremity of his brain trauma.

please consider donating to the Blome family to help cover medical expenses and leave some kind words of positivity and prayer.

Conrads family and I will continue to keep everyone updated as best as we can. This page is also run by the family as well as myself.
