Conquering Hodgkin's
Donation protected
The week of my 30th birthday, I returned home from traveling Central Mexico with what I had thought was nothing more than a simple nagging cough. I gave it a few days in the fresh Canadian air to try to heal naturally, however to no avail. I then reluctantly went to the doctor to get some meds, and within an hour, my life would unknowingly take a new path.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma (Mario Lemieux) at the end of September 2016. From a positive standpoint, Hodgkin's is one of the most successfully treatable cancer's often resulting in patients being fully cured. Treatment consists of chemotherapy every two weeks for four to six months (for a total of eight to 12 treatments).
To date, I have undergone three cycles and have been very fortunate in regards to side effects with the worst consisting only of some significant fatigue a few days following treatment days.
Funding is to aid in the financial strain associated with drug costs not covered by AHS and insurance, as well as cost of living while being unable to return to work.
