Hi, my name is Sienna and in October 2024, I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare condition that causes sudden paralysis. It can be life threatening and life altering, taking a lot of rehabilitation to learn to walk and do normal tasks again. I still experience difficulty walking and completing activities of daily living but I am determined to not let that hold me back so I have decided to trek the Kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea. To me, Kokoda represents a challenge that requires courage, hard work, resilience and support from loved ones, which is reflective of my experience with GBS. Trekking Kokoda is a personal challenge, but I aim to raise awareness and funds for GBS. All donations will be passed on to GBS related charities and research.
