Conquering Cancer with the Gregory's

**Update**
My heart is incredibly heavy as I provide this update on the Gregory family. As Shawn was receiving traditional chemo, and they awaited a decision on the insurance appeal or sufficient funds to pay out of pocket, Shawn's body decided it would no longer tolerate the medicines being administered. At that point, the doctors informed Jennifer that further treatment was no longer an option for Shawn. On May 29, Shawn passed gracefully into the arms of Jesus.

This is an overwhelming and difficult time for Jennifer, Kalli, and Noah. Please continue to pray for their peace and comfort as they adjust. If you find it on your heart to support the family financially, you can continue to do so through this GoFundMe. Jennifer will prioritize any funds raised to best take care of their family.

This fundraiser has been organized on behalf of the Gregory family, Shawn, Jennifer, Kalli, and Noah. In September 2022, Jennifer took Shawn to the emergency room for a kidney stone. However, a routine x-ray revealed that Shawn was dealing with something much bigger. This sweet family learned they were facing new and challenging circumstances as Shawn, then just 39, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of colon cancer that had already progressed to Stage 4. A devastating diagnosis on its own, this news came just two weeks after the family lost Shawn's Father to lung cancer. Despite following his doctor's treatment protocol, traditional chemotherapy was only able to stop new growth, but was not successful in shrinking existing tumors in Shawn's colon and liver. Recent setbacks in Shawn's health have put chemo treatments on hold allowing the cancer to progress throughout his body.

Testing has shown that Shawn is a good candidate for a chemo pill by the name of Tefinlar Mekinist, but insurance has denied them coverage for this potentially life-saving treatment. Shawn's doctors have appealed the insurance decision, but they learned this week insurance has denied them again. As many will understand, medical treatment is extremely costly, and without insurance assistance is sometimes not possible. Without this chemo pill treatment, the outlook is grim, robbing Shawn, his wife, and his young children of precious time together, and so many memories they have yet to make.

We have set a goal of $30,000 as that is the estimated out-of-pocket cost of chemo pills without insurance. If you feel moved to help this family, please consider donating to their drive to get Shawn the treatment he so desperately needs. His family and friends thank you for any help you can give. You can make the difference toward their happy ending.
